The cutting wall is exactly 5 mm tall, so it cuts cleanly through the slab just as the scale is pressed about 1.5 mm deep. Small air holes in the back plate help the tile release. A band of squares above the scale shows how a glaze behaves over texture.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDry and fire the tile, then lay a ruler against the stamped scale. Shrinkage % = (scale length − measured length) ÷ scale length × 100. For example, if the 10 cm scale measures 8.8 cm after firing, your clay shrank 12 %.
