Leaf shaped clay cutter and matching mold

This leaf-shaped clay mold and matching cutter are designed for ceramic work when you want both a clean outline and a raised leaf-vein texture on the surface of the clay. The mold is sized for a clay slab of approximately 153 × 202 × 22 mm. The cutter fits the mold precisely and includes an internal reinforcement for stability during repeated use.

 

Please note that the cutter shown in one of the photos includes two internal support beams; however, the final product has only one support beam. One beam was removed intentionally to make clay release easier and to ensure smoother practical use.

 

The mold features a raised vein pattern. To transfer this texture, place the cut clay piece upside down into the mold and gently press or smooth the surface with your fingers or a soft tool until the pattern attaches. The clay must still be plastic, not dry. After the texture transfers, you can flip the slab and place it into the mold for shaping. Because the mold is shallow, newspaper is usually unnecessary, though you may use it if you prefer an easier release.

 

As shown in the photos, the mold’s interior is not perfectly uniform and the bottom includes visible support marks from 3D printing. These marks do not affect the outcome, as the clay does not imprint such fine details. The tool is intended specifically for ceramic work, where slight irregularities in the mold surface do not influence the finished piece.
