Professional-grade crystalline glaze for stoneware and porcelain.
The Milton Bridge Studio Crystal Line offers stunning crystalline glazes designed to develop genuine, visible crystals on the surface during the firing process. F655 Tremolite creates deep, glassy effects and ensures that every piece is a unique work of art.
Ideal for professional ceramicists, artists, and studios, this glaze allows you to achieve beautiful crystal growth at 1220°C with a standard soak. Even more spectacular results can be achieved using controlled cooling cycles.
Key Features:
- Genuine Crystals: High-gloss glaze that forms real crystals during firing.
- One-of-a-kind Results: Each piece is unrepeatable, making it perfect for artistic and decorative ceramics.
- High-Temperature Performance: Specifically formulated for stoneware and porcelain.
- Enhanced Effects: The glassy depth can be further intensified when used with a Vibes series top-coat.
- Optimized for Controlled Firing: Best results are achieved with programmable firing cycles (Cone 6–7).
Technical Specifications:
- Product Code: F655
- Name: Tremolite
- Volume: 550 ml
- Firing Temperature: 1220°C with a 20-minute soak (Cone 6) or advanced programmable cycles (Cone 7).
- Heating Rate: Recommended 175°C/hour up to 1210°C.
- Crystal Growth: Controlled cooling and "holds" between 1023°C and 987°C promote larger crystal growth.
Application Instructions:
- Preparation: Stir the glaze extremely well before and during application to keep the crystals in suspension.
- Application: Apply 2–3 even coats using a brush, sponge, or swab. Can be applied over other glazes or directly onto the bisque-fired body.
- Gravity Warning: Reduce the number of layers towards the foot of the piece to prevent the glaze from running off the ware during the fluid crystalline phase.
- Glaze Catcher: For advanced crystalline cycles involving heavy melting, the use of a "glaze catcher" (a sacrificial clay plate or ring) is highly recommended to protect your kiln shelves.
Safety & Testing:
- Variable Results: Final effects are heavily influenced by the clay body, application thickness, and the kiln's internal atmosphere/position.
- Testing: Always perform a test firing on your specific clay body and firing cycle before committing to larger works.
