The rim cone brings a distorted rim back to a true round shape. Rims easily go oval while you trim, attach handles or simply handle the piece — just press the cone into the opening and the rim is round again. Works for both hand-built and wheel-thrown cups, mugs, bowls and vases.
How to use: use it when the clay is soft to medium leather-hard. Hold the tool by its centre bar, set the narrow end of the cone into the opening of your piece and press gently down onto the rim, then give it a small twist. The sloping wall pushes the rim evenly outward into a round shape. Stiff leather-hard clay may crack, so don't force it.
While drying: you can also leave the cone in the opening while the piece dries, to keep a wide or thin rim from warping or sagging.
Available in four sizes (fits rim diameters of approx.):
- Small: rims Ø 5–8 cm (height 4.5 cm)
- Medium: rims Ø 6.5–10 cm (height 6 cm)
- Large: rims Ø 8–12 cm (height 6 cm)
- XL: rims Ø 9.5–15 cm (height 6 cm)
