*Low-fire* Terra Bella Egyptian Blue (551)

Terra Bella Egyptian Blue (551) is a rich, deep blue glaze with soft reactive movement. Depending on thickness, the tone shifts from medium denim blue to a darker, velvety shade, creating natural variation without strong contrast. The surface develops a smooth, semi-gloss finish with a fine speckled texture that adds depth and a classic ceramic character.

Tested at Icewood Atelier:
Samples were brushed with two to three coats of Egyptian Blue and fired at 950 °C with a 10-minute hold. The result was an even, slightly mottled surface with subtle gloss and a calm, layered blue tone that brings out shape and detail beautifully.

Egyptian Blue works perfectly on its own for traditional blue finishes or layered with lighter glazes such as Mystic White (553) to achieve soft, cloud-like transitions and a timeless contrast between cool and warm tones. Shake well before use and apply two to three coats on bisque ware. Firing temperature 950–1000 °C with 10-minute hold.
