The listed dimensions are the size of the tool, i.e. the wet clay. Clay shrinks during drying and firing, usually around 5–15%, and the final size of your piece always depends on your own clay and firing temperature. For example, with a 10 cm size and 12% shrinkage, the finished piece would be about 8.8 cm. Please check your clay's shrinkage before ordering and choose the size accordingly.

This thin scallop border cutter cuts a long, narrow strip of clay with a softly scalloped edge in a single press. Use the strips to add a decorative wavy border to cups, mugs, bowls, vases, boxes and trays, or as a trim on tiles and wall pieces.
Roll out your clay evenly, press the cutter straight down through the slab and lift away the excess. Score and slip the back of the strip, then attach it along the rim or wall of your piece while the clay is still soft or leather-hard. The strip is flexible enough to follow curved forms such as the rim of a cup. For the cleanest cut, place a thin layer of plastic wrap over the clay before pressing, or dust lightly with cornstarch if the clay sticks.
The cutter is 3D-printed from PLA at Icewood Atelier's workshop in Finland, with a thin cutting edge for crisp, repeatable scallops. Minor 3D-printing marks may occur but do not affect how the tool works.
